Instructions
Preparation Steps
Combine nuts, sugar, and cinnamon in a bowl and set aside.
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare the baking dish with melted butter.
Layer half of the phyllo dough with melted butter in the baking dish.
Sprinkle the nut mixture over the phyllo layers.
Add the remaining phyllo layers, brushing each with melted butter.
Cut the layered dough into a circular wreath shape.
Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
Prepare honey syrup by simmering over medium heat until reduced.
Warm milk and sugar in a saucepan.
Whisk egg yolks, cornstarch, and vanilla, then combine with warm milk.
Cook the custard mixture until thickened over medium heat.
Drizzle warm honey syrup over baked baklava and let soak for 20 minutes.
Pour custard into the center of the wreath.
Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
