Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a 9×13-inch baking dish lined with parchment paper.
In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt until combined.
In a large bowl, beat the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.
Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract.
Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just incorporated.
Fold in the chocolate chips evenly throughout the dough.
Press half of the dough into the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
Drizzle caramel sauce over the dough, spreading it gently.
Drop spoonfuls of remaining dough on top of the caramel layer, spreading as necessary.
Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown and a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
Cool completely before cutting into squares and optionally sprinkle sea salt on top.
