Instructions
Step-by-Step Instructions for Italian Christmas Sub
Begin by placing your large sub roll on a cutting board. Carefully slice the roll lengthwise, leaving a half-inch hinge on one side.
In a small bowl, combine mayonnaise, red wine vinegar, and olive oil. Whisk until smooth. Season with salt and pepper.
Spread the dressing on the inside of both halves of the sub roll.
Layer genoa salami, provolone cheese, smoked ham, and pepperoni on the bottom half of the roll.
Sprinkle shredded lettuce, followed by tomatoes, red onions, black olives, and banana peppers evenly over the meats.
Drizzle more dressing over the veggie layer for added flavor.
Add fresh basil leaves on top, then close the sub roll by folding over the fillings.
Slice the assembled sub into 4–6 sections and serve immediately or wrap in foil to let the flavors meld.
Notes
Use high-quality ingredients for the best flavor. Customize toppings to your liking.
