Ingredients

Filling

  • 8 ounces cream cheese room temperature
  • 0.5 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup chopped fresh strawberries
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

Wontons

  • 12 pieces wonton wrappers
  • 2 inches oil for frying neutral oil like vegetable or canola

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a mixing bowl, combine cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth and creamy.
  • Gently fold in chopped fresh strawberries and lemon juice into the cream cheese mixture.
  • Lay wonton wrappers on a clean surface and place a generous amount of filling in the center of each wrapper.
  • Moisten the edges of each wonton wrapper with water and fold to seal, pressing edges firmly.
  • Heat oil in a deep pan to 350°F (175°C). Test oil readiness with a small piece of wonton.
  • Fry wontons in batches for 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown and crispy.
  • Remove from oil and drain on paper towels. Serve warm garnished with fresh strawberries.

Notes

Best enjoyed warm. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days. Freeze before frying for longer storage.
