Instructions

Casserole Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • In a large baking dish, combine the uncooked penne pasta, chicken pieces, marinara sauce, and water. Stir until well mixed.
  • Add garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper. Mix until evenly distributed.
  • Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes.
  • Remove the foil, stir the mixture, and check that the chicken is no longer pink. Bake longer if needed.
  • Sprinkle mozzarella and Parmesan cheese evenly over the top.
  • Return to the oven and bake uncovered for an additional 10-15 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  • Let it sit for a few minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh basil if desired.
