Step-by-Step Instructions for Ham and Cheese Puff Pastry Swirls

  • Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Roll out the puff pastry sheet into a rectangle about ⅛-inch thick on a lightly floured surface.
  • Spread the Dijon mustard evenly across the pastry, leaving a small border along the edges.
  • Layer the ham, shredded cheese, and black pepper evenly on top of the mustard.
  • Tightly roll the pastry from one long edge into a log shape and pinch the seam closed.
  • Slice the rolled log into 12 pieces, each about 1 cm (½ inch) thick, and place on the prepared baking sheet.
  • Whisk the egg and milk together and brush the mixture over the top of each swirl.
  • Bake the swirls for 12 to 15 minutes until golden brown, then cool slightly before serving.

Notes
