Prepare the Bread and Cheese: Place four slices of your favorite bread on a cutting board, flat. Top each with a slice of cheese.
Create Heart Shapes: Press a heart-shaped cookie cutter into each stack of bread and cheese to cut out shapes.
Butter and Prepare for Cooking: Spread softened butter on one side of each heart-shaped sandwich. Optionally, add a thin layer of mayonnaise.
Heat the Skillet: Place a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Once hot, place sandwiches in skillet with buttered side down.
Add Seasonings and Flip: If using mayonnaise, spread it now. Sprinkle garlic powder and paprika. Cook for 2-3 minutes before flipping.
Finish Cooking: Cook the other side for another 2-3 minutes until golden-brown and cheese melts. Let cool slightly.
Serve with Dipping Sauce: Optionally cut larger heart shapes in half and serve with dipping sauces.
Notes
These dippers can be stored in an airtight container and enjoyed fresh for up to 3 days or frozen for up to 2 months. Reheat in a skillet or toaster oven for best results.
