Baking Instructions
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a 9×13-inch baking dish with parchment paper.
In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt until well combined.
In a large mixing bowl, cream together the butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract.
Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined.
Fold in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed.
Press half of the dough into the bottom of the prepared baking dish, then drizzle caramel sauce over it.
Spread spoonfuls of the remaining dough over the caramel layer, covering it partially.
Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown. Allow to cool in the pan.
Once slightly cooled, sprinkle with sea salt if desired, then cut into squares.
