Ingredients

For the Stuffing

  • 2 pounds potatoes peeled and cubed
  • 8 ounces crusty bread cubes
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter melted
  • 1 medium onion diced
  • 2 stalks celery diced
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • ¼ cup fresh parsley chopped
  • 1 teaspoon fresh thyme leaves
  • ½ teaspoon salt to taste
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper to taste
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1 large egg beaten

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large pot, boil the peeled and cubed potatoes in salted water until fork-tender.
  • In a skillet, melt the butter and sauté the onion and celery until translucent. Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute.
  • Combine the mashed potatoes, crusty bread cubes, sautéed onion and celery, parsley, thyme, salt, and pepper in a mixing bowl.
  • Whisk together the chicken broth and beaten egg, then pour over the stuffing blend and mix gently.
  • Transfer the mixture to a greased baking dish and bake for 30 minutes until golden brown.

Notes

For a crispier top, broil for the last few minutes of baking. Customize your stuffing with add-ins like sausage or nuts for a twist.
