Step-by-Step Instructions

  • Heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  • Add 1 pound of bite-sized chicken breast pieces, season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder, and cook for about 5-7 minutes until golden brown.
  • Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside on a plate, covering loosely with foil.
  • In the same skillet, add 8 ounces of sliced mushrooms and sauté them over medium heat for about 5 minutes until golden brown.
  • Sprinkle 1 tablespoon of all-purpose flour over the mushrooms and stir well, cooking for about 1 minute.
  • Gradually pour in 1 cup of chicken broth while stirring, cooking for 3-4 minutes until the mixture thickens.
  • Remove the skillet from heat and stir in 1 cup of sour cream until well combined, then return the chicken to the skillet.
  • Fold the chicken into the sauce, mixing well, and place the skillet back on low heat for 2-3 minutes to heat through.
  • Serve the Chicken Stroganoff over cooked egg noodles or mashed potatoes.
