Ingredients

For the Cream Filling

  • 400 g dulce de leche This sweet treat provides the signature flavor.
  • 1 cup cream cheese Use full-fat for rich creaminess.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract Enhances flavor with warm aroma.

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a mixing bowl, combine dulce de leche, cream cheese, and vanilla extract. Mix with an electric mixer on medium speed for 2-3 minutes until smooth.
  • Pour water or milk into a shallow dish. Briefly dip each cookie for 1-2 seconds, ensuring they soften but don’t get soggy.
  • Layer softened cookies at the bottom of a rectangular dish. Spread a layer of the cream filling over the cookies.
  • Continue layering cookies and cream mixture until all ingredients are used, finishing with a layer of cream.
  • Cover with plastic wrap tightly and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight.
  • Slice into portions and serve chilled, optionally garnished with fresh fruit or shaved chocolate.

Notes

Chocotorta is best made a day in advance to allow flavors to meld. Serve chilled for optimal taste.
