Instructions
Step‑by‑Step Instructions
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Blanch the green beans for about 4-5 minutes, then plunge into ice water to halt cooking.
Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat, and sauté sliced mushrooms for 5-7 minutes until tender, or skip if using canned mushrooms.
In a large mixing bowl, combine cream of mushroom soup, sour cream, milk, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Whisk until smooth.
Fold in the sautéed or canned mushrooms, blanched green beans, and ½ cup of fried onions. Mix until well combined.
Transfer the mixture to a greased 9x13 inch baking dish and spread evenly. Sprinkle shredded sharp cheddar cheese on top.
Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes until bubbly and the cheese is melted.
Sprinkle additional fried onions on top and bake for another 5-10 minutes until golden brown and crispy.
Remove from oven and allow to sit for about 10 minutes before serving.
Notes
For the best flavor, use fresh green beans and store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
