Instructions
Step‑by‑Step Instructions for Homemade Stuffing
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and generously butter a 9×9-inch baking dish.
Melt ¾ cup of butter in a skillet over medium heat and sauté diced onions and celery for 20-30 minutes until soft.
Remove from heat and stir in salt, pepper, poultry seasoning, marjoram, sage, and parsley. Allow to cool slightly.
In a small bowl, whisk together the eggs and then add chicken broth until smooth.
In a large mixing bowl, combine stale bread cubes with the buttery vegetable mixture. Gently stir to combine.
Add the egg and broth mixture to the bread and veggie blend and toss until evenly coated.
Transfer the mixture to the prepared baking dish and dot with remaining 2 tablespoons of butter.
Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes. Remove the foil and bake uncovered for an additional 15 minutes.
For extra crispiness, broil for 1-2 minutes, keeping a close watch.
Notes
Use stale bread for better absorption of flavors; let the stuffing rest for 5-10 minutes after baking before serving for improved texture.
