Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) to prepare for baking.
In a large oven-safe skillet, melt 4 tablespoons of butter over medium-high heat.
Sauté 1 cup of diced yellow onion for 2-3 minutes until fragrant and softened.
Add 10 ounces of shredded green cabbage and sprinkle with ½ teaspoon of sea salt, cooking for 5-6 minutes.
Stir in 2 minced garlic cloves and sauté for 1 additional minute.
Fold in a 20-ounce bag of frozen hash browns and 1½ cups of shredded Irish cheddar cheese until well combined.
Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven and bake for 30-35 minutes.
Sprinkle 1 cup of shredded Irish cheddar cheese on top and bake for another 4-5 minutes.
