Ingredients

For the Stir Fry

  • 1 medium green cabbage thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil neutral oil
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 inch ginger minced
  • 1 medium red bell pepper sliced
  • 1 medium carrot julienned

For the Sauce

  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce low-sodium optional
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper

For Garnishing

  • 2 scallions green onions sliced
  • 2 tablespoons toasted sesame seeds

Preparation Steps

  • Start by washing and slicing the vegetables. Thinly slice the green cabbage, red bell pepper, and green onions, and julienne the carrot.
  • In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, oyster sauce, sesame oil, rice vinegar, sugar, and black pepper.
  • Place a large wok over medium-high heat and add vegetable oil. Allow the oil to heat up until it shimmers.
  • Add minced garlic and minced ginger to the wok. Stir-fry for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  • Toss in the sliced bell pepper and julienned carrot. Stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until they begin to soften.
  • Add the green cabbage to the wok and stir well. Continue to stir-fry for about 5-7 minutes.
  • Pour the sauce mixture over the stir-fried vegetables and toss well to coat.
  • Stir-fry the mixture for another 2 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
  • Remove from heat and sprinkle with sliced green onions and toasted sesame seeds before serving.

Notes

Prep ahead to make cooking quicker. Avoid overcrowding the wok for best results.
