Ingredients

Filling

  • 1 lb Ground beef providing savory flavor and protein
  • 1 small Onion finely chopped
  • 2 cloves Garlic minced
  • to Salt to taste
  • to Pepper to taste
  • 8 oz Cheddar cheese cut into small squares

Dough

  • 1 lb Refrigerated pizza dough
  • 1 tablespoon Baking soda for boiling
  • 1 large Egg beaten
  • to Sesame seeds optional

Preparation

Instructions

Cooking Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper, then coat with cooking spray or oil.
  • In a skillet, cook the ground beef, onion, and garlic over medium heat until beef is browned and onions are translucent for about 5-7 minutes. Season with salt and pepper, then set aside to cool.
  • Roll out the refrigerated pizza dough on a floured surface to about ¼ inch thick. Cut into 16 equal squares.
  • Place a scoop of the beef mixture and a piece of cheddar in the center of each square. Fold the corners over and seal tightly.
  • Boil 4 cups of water. Add baking soda, reduce heat, and drop each dough ball into water for about 30 seconds.
  • Remove dough balls with a slotted spoon and place on the baking sheet. Brush tops with beaten egg and sprinkle sesame seeds if desired.
  • Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown. Let cool slightly before serving warm with ketchup or mustard.

Notes

Ensure to pinch the edges of the dough tightly to keep the filling from leaking out during baking.
