Step-by-Step Instructions for Thai Basil Beef Rolls
Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add 3 minced garlic cloves and 1 finely chopped shallot. Sauté for about 2 minutes until fragrant.
Add 1 pound of ground beef. Cook for about 5–7 minutes until browned.
Stir in 2 tablespoons of soy sauce, 1 tablespoon of oyster sauce, 1 teaspoon of brown sugar, and ½ teaspoon of chili flakes. Simmer for 2–3 minutes.
Off heat, add 1 tablespoon of fresh lime juice and 1 cup of chopped Thai basil leaves. Stir to combine.
Fill a shallow plate with warm water and gather rice paper wrappers near your workspace.
Dip one rice paper wrapper in warm water for about 5–10 seconds until softened. Place on a flat surface.
Position a spoonful of the beef filling near the bottom edge of the softened rice paper. Add optional herbs or veggies.
Fold the bottom of the rice paper over the filling, tuck in the sides, and roll tightly.
Slice the rolls in half for serving. Enjoy with your choice of dipping sauce.
