For the Casserole

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 cup elbow macaroni
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup milk
  • ½ cup breadcrumbs
  • ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 medium onion finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon pepper
  • as needed cooking spray or olive oil for greasing the baking dish

Instructions

Step-by-Step Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a 9x13 inch baking dish with cooking spray or olive oil.
  • In a large pot, bring salted water to a rolling boil. Add 1 cup of elbow macaroni and cook until al dente, about 6-8 minutes. Drain and set aside.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine 1 pound of ground beef, the cooked macaroni, half of the shredded cheddar and mozzarella cheeses, ½ cup of milk, breadcrumbs, ¼ cup of grated Parmesan cheese, chopped onion, minced garlic, 1 large egg, Worcestershire sauce, dried Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
  • Transfer the meat mixture into the prepared baking dish, pressing it down evenly.
  • Sprinkle the remaining cheddar and mozzarella cheeses over the top of the meat mixture.
  • Cover the baking dish tightly with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes.
  • Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
  • Allow the casserole to cool for about 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
